Day 298

My favorite fish tank? The Gulf of Mexico, Panama City, FL.
I will retire there some day!

Work at a guy's house painting yesterday, gave me a Hydor Koralia 425gph water circulation pump and a pair of long reach tongs. The Hydor went on tank #17, in place of powerhead. Tank #17 was cleaned, vacuumed gravel, filter cleaned and 25% water change. Water change on tank #13 also. Two more fish died in tropical tank, still unknown cause.

Day 295

I've returned! Too much going on lately to post. These are three pictures of my Jag and one of Rob's Texas. Over the last 12 days alot has happened, Midas in tank #9 broke through divider and was attacked by other Midas. Almost died, caught it in time. This fish had a fuzz over half his body, I did two 25% water changes and it went away, or healed. Had a fish die off in tropical tank #8, Bala shark, Groumi, 8-Tiger Barbs, albino Bristlenose Pleco, Angel, and a hand full of others. Possible nitrate spike? Did water change and filter cleaning, the die off slowed to a stop. Pacu with hole in the head healed up over last couple weeks, so he was moved from tank #6 to 380gal.(tank #13), Dempsey moved from tank #1 to #6, and Blackbelt Vieja was moved from sump to tank #1. Did tank cleanings, 25% water changes, and filter cleanings in tanks #8,18,19,20,and 21. Arren brought over 1/2" Texas, this fish was put in tank #12.

Day 283

Dead convict in tank #16...Blackbelt Vieja was put back in sump, he's a killing machine! In tank #9, one of the Barred Midas broke through the divider and really took a beating from other Barred Midas, he will be ok. The first circuit has been run to fishroom and the power is on, a light too. Still have to install ground fault. Second circuit will be run this weekend, then more drywall. All else is good.

Day 279

Yesterday I found the AC110 on tank #16 had stopped working, one Pitcus cat was dead. Reset filter and did 25% water change. One Angel had died in tropical tank #8, added a painted tetra from my daughters tank. Ran the electrical wiring to one circuit in fishroom, going today to buy outlets and 15 amp. breaker. Power soon! Washed out gravel and tank from 29gal. I got at Mary's.

Day 276

Evened out all openings for tanks in fish room. Hung all outlet, switch, and light boxes. Started drywall on fishroom, around 388gal. Going to hand wire next. I have one copper pipe that sweats from the humidity in the summer, painting the pipe with pick-up truck bed liner. Maybe this will insulate it and stop it from dripping.
Blackbelt Vieja was moved from sump to tank #16, so far so good. Burned out a AC70 on tank #19, will replace. Did 25% water change and prefilter change in 380gal.(#13). All else good.

Day 274

A week a go a fish trap was put in my creek, trying to catch minnows, nothing first couple of days. Two days ago the trap had two fry, maybe trout, and two crayfish. I threw them back. Today the trap had a crayfish and this catfish. The catfish 2", was put in tank #3 for observation.

Day 273 continued continued

Stopped by a place called Auction Village in Warren. Mary saves anything fish related that comes in. Friday she had a 29gal., two filters, two 24" lights, air pump and a heater. Sold it for $20. Started working on fish room again, made opening for triple 180gal. not large enough. Plan on opening that up and evening up the 388gal., electrical next.

Day 273 continued

Also on Thursday night I picked up a Red Terror from Matt. This fish is about 11", very healthy. He's in a 90gal for now, thanks Matt for the Terror (tank #19), he adapted really good. Stop by anytime.

Day 273

On Thursday night I picked up a fish from Carey and Chad. Bob the fish thought he was a convict, sorry to tell you, but you are a Jack Dempsey, Bob (tank #1). Thanks for the great healthy fish, he is doing great!

Day 270

The 380gal. has these corner, run-off drains. I moved the pre-filter(floss) material to these drains, onto the pipe on the right, and out of the sump. Its easier to access. Cleaned tanks #1-#5 yesterday, filter cleanings, 25% water change, and vacuumed gravel.

Day 269

Tom got my number from Petsmart, he had two Tetra that he wanted to donate to tropical tank. Thanks to Tom, his Dad and brothers for the fish. Unfortunately one of the Tetra didn't make it, the one that was starting to swim upside down. The other one is doing great, thanks again. Good luck with the new Red Devil, they don't call them that for no reason!

Day 268

This is pictures of Aron's Tank #7. Blackbelt Vieja cichlid was the cause of all the aggression and fin damage in tank #7. He was put in sump of 380 gal., doing good. Tank #7 is now peaceful, no aggression. Cleaned tanks #6 (#7 was just set up-no cleaning) thru #10. Filter cleanings, vacuumed gravel, and 25% water change.

Day 267

Cleaned tanks #16, #11, and #12. Vacuumed gravel, filter cleaning, and 25% water change.Rena filter taken off tank #12, replaced with Fluval 304. Moved two 3" Oscars from tank #19. One went into tank #16, and the other went into tank #7(Aron's tank). Blackbelt Vieja of Aron's is too aggressive, so he went into sump of 380 gal. to calm down. Sump of 380 gal is actually a 55gal., many a fish have lived there until I can figure out where to put them. Happy Easter!
