Got a call from Amy, she gave me two black banded Leporinus one year ago. She had more fish to donate because she's getting out of hobby. The fish I picked up were...Upside down Catfish 1", Bala Shark 7", Algae eater 3", a silver catfish 3", large Tiger Barb, a Tetra, and another tropical fish. Went to Auction Village in Warren,Mi...near firehall. Mary has a 8'x4' piece of "bullet proof glass", as she calls it! Says it's worth "thousands", it's 1" acrylic...got her to $100, and she won't budge. This will fit on top of my 388gal., she also has a treasure chest stand, and hood. I will wheel and deal and see if I can cut a deal for both.<br />
Did 50% water changes in both 29gal., gravel vacuum, and filter cleanings. Did Budda tank and Oscar, Red Devil/Jaguar fader tanks too.<br />
Started to medicate Arowana tank because of Clown Knife, with Melafix. Might be a internal bacterial infection...called bloat. On Tue went and got some Melafix 5ml/ 10gal., going to treat tank for 7 days. This is the third day, had to do something before he died too. So far so good, hard to tell if it's having any effect on him. Melafix is safe for Arowanas. Wish I would have treated RTC, but as this hobby goes...you learn from your mistakes. I will update as the days go on.<br />
Got two 60" Odyssea lights...nice, one on Red Devil colony tank, other on 155gal. bowfront. <br />
400w heater from Marineland arrived yesterday, it replaces the one that burned out...lifetime warranty. That company stands behind their product, with easy exchange. This heater will go into sump for 388gal.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15510334831522701337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2072488036626555968.post-74549871149681670302012-02-28T10:23:00.002-05:002012-02-28T10:23:43.975-05:00Day 534<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">50% water change in 380 gallon yesterday with vacuum gravel, cleaned filter also. Added Oscar and one Jack Dempsey to 155gal bowfront, after they were medicated. Then...RTC(24") in Arowana tank died two nights ago, he just wouldn't eat. Skin turned red! I still don't know what happened. Arowana, Oscar and Clown Knife doing better after removal of dead RTC and a 25% and 20% water change. R.I.P. <br />
Rob came by to get "Big Boy" Flowerhorn, and bring me a new Flowerhorn. The switch went good for both fish, and owners! Then...Pacus in 155gal. bowfront bit the head off one of the Clown Loaches...I assume after he died, because another one died shortly after. The Pacus were moved to 380gal. and doing good. Fluval filter added to Jaguar/old Flowerhorn tank today.</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15510334831522701337noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2072488036626555968.post-35396829727674169182012-02-09T21:26:00.001-05:002012-02-09T21:56:10.993-05:00Day 515<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOzx1lA4kXr9TP_K1D8djFsVJR78ceRgflTNm7-UuR6qPWMFyLLwHhyphenhyphenfXV9yxooE7llmk4ZIzDhHv1itmT_p45MWM_4p11x3bWhAtZOrCpa1ILFxIiNi-JMXvU2ACC6IOF6yOYtG6jpg8H/s1600/photo8.36.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" sda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOzx1lA4kXr9TP_K1D8djFsVJR78ceRgflTNm7-UuR6qPWMFyLLwHhyphenhyphenfXV9yxooE7llmk4ZIzDhHv1itmT_p45MWM_4p11x3bWhAtZOrCpa1ILFxIiNi-JMXvU2ACC6IOF6yOYtG6jpg8H/s320/photo8.36.JPG" width="239px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is Jim's son's African cichlid, he's doing great!</div>Came home from work Wed. morning, large Red Devil in the Colony tank was dead on bottom of tank. No injuries...just dead R.I.P. <br />
Did a 25% water change on the colony tank today with a vacuum gravel. Made some pvc adjustments to Arowana tank, two drains came to a T., thought this slowed down the water to sump, so I split it, two drains to sump now...helped a little. Added another pump to sump to increase water turn over in tank. Bought frozen fish fillets called swai, to entice RTC to eat...didn't work, but Arowana likes it. Yesterday added Fluval filter to Budda tank, contacted John about buying extra filters. Two Jack Dempseys and an Oscar, these fish were all put into a 29gal. hospital tank. This way I wouldn't have to medicate alot of water. The Oscar has hole in the head and ulcers on his body, I'm treating the tank with Doxycycline for 7 days, and added salt to water with temperature up to 86*.I will try my best on him Jeff. After the first night I observed the small Jack Dempsey was very aggressive, some of the marks on other to fish could be injuries. A divider was placed into tank and the aggressive fish was separated. I will keep you posted on fishes progress, thanks for the fish Jeff.</div></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15510334831522701337noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2072488036626555968.post-87328188865264983602012-01-28T11:57:00.002-05:002012-01-28T23:40:33.133-05:00503 continued<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDqYqxaUYtzV9y3LAM7ceTdwGBmL6zq6X0HWG0PZyscLsvcQt7tNWBrsvO1Rj4hbLY0_kuTKbP_H-Ug_ZAX0HukRLYVJFDklm4JpsGI3d6r19638Qf4okOafphnIbKgsofeIYpFp_O2P05/s1600/photo8.12.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="240px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDqYqxaUYtzV9y3LAM7ceTdwGBmL6zq6X0HWG0PZyscLsvcQt7tNWBrsvO1Rj4hbLY0_kuTKbP_H-Ug_ZAX0HukRLYVJFDklm4JpsGI3d6r19638Qf4okOafphnIbKgsofeIYpFp_O2P05/s320/photo8.12.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is Eric's Tiger Shovelnose Catfish...welcome to the monster fish keepers club! Bothers me that Arowana still not eating, could be a fast. I sat and observed this tank, making sure not to move...the Clown Knife was real aggressive towards other fish. The Arowana could be stressed out from this, he also has marks on his body. This could be from being spooked and ramming into side or bite marks, I will watch, and keep trying to feed. Clown Loaches were moved from tank #17 to #10(155gal. bowfront). This was Rob's idea from yesterday...thanks, great idea. They are adjusting great! The extra large Goldfish in 29gal. will be moved to my Daughter's room.
