Day 189

Lima Shovelnose ran into side of tank(380 gal.) and broke nose...and he's not eating.
I have lots of heaters, 18 running. In this time, energy is on everyone's mind, saving energy that is. I keep all my heaters at 80*, I thought. I'm going to try to keep the tanks at average 75*, and see if I can decrease my kW/day usage. I have to factor in outside temperature and my setting up and taking down tanks. I am aware my fish will be less active and eat less. Here is a current list of tank temps.

Day 175 cont'

Tank #13(380gal.) vacuumed gravel and 25% water change. Moved Angels, Discus, lrg. Grourami, Algae eater and Bala Shark from tank#5 to tropical tank#8, moved Electric Yellow Lab from tank#5 to tank#12, and Lace Catfish, Pitcus cat from tank#5 and small Oscar from tank#16 to 380gal. This was all done so large Oscar in tank#18 could be moved to tank#5, and divider lifted in tank#18 for Flowerhorn alone.

Day 175

It pains me to inform you that Oscar in tank#6 was mortally wounded day after Christmas. This Oscar, I got from Nic, broke down divider and got on the Red Devil side of tank. Oscar died 3 days after injured, R.I.P. I still struggle with the death of a fish that I cared for. This hobby is a learning experience, still, after 30 years. So I move on, and make my hobby better from my failures...I moved the two small Parrots and African Leaf fish from tank#5 to the 380gal., no problems. Tanks#14-#20 were cleaned over the holiday, filter changes, cleanings and 25% water changes. The new filter pump for the 380gal. is ready to be swapped in, maybe Wed. night? Rob is moving some tanks on Thur., going over there to help out. I might hold a tank and some fish for him. More tomorrow, keep the hobby strong and don't let your failures stray you from this great fish keeping(collecting) experience!
